Day 13 – Green Bay – Lafayette

I woke reasonably early, had breakfast and picked up my $25 free petrol card whilst I was checking out of the hotel. Before leaving Green Bay I had one last thing I wanted to do and that was to visit the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame at Lambeau Field. So I drove out to the stadium and paid the $10 entry fee and on entering the Hall of Fame was shown a video of the founding and the history of the Green Bay Football team. From there you were free to wander through the whole area and read the very long history of the team, its players and the many interesting facts that have happened to the team including all their championship wins.

The exhibit was very well set out and I enjoyed wandering through it. There were a lot of people walking through it at the same time. After I had looked over the whole exhibit I went to the gift shop and bought a couple of small items to bring home. I was surprised that there were not any books for sale on the history of the Green Bay Packers. I would have liked to have bought one to read.

Back in the car and on the road I headed south towards Milwaukee and beyond. I made a decision yesterday to head straight towards Tennessee and the Nascar race week that I am going to see. That means I will forgo visiting 10 casinos in Illinois. The time required to get to those casinos and still get to Bristol Speedway by Wednesday afternoon would mean 10 hour of driving for two days and then a 6 hour drive on Wednesday.

By going directly to Bristol I will have a lot less driving and get some good rest before the four days at the Nascar, which I a m sure will be pretty full on.

Driving south I passed through Milwaukee then Chicago and then into Indiana and after just over 6 hours of driving I arrived at the city of Lafayette where I booked into a hotel for the night. Lafayette is also the home of Purdue University.

I picked the hotel out due to the fact it had a guest laundry so I could get some washing done and then went out for some dinner at a local diner before coming back to do my laundry. That being done and everything folded I watched a bit of television before it was lights out for the night.

Keith,

I just want to let you know that I'm reading your blog three or four times a week and am really enjoying it.
