Day 13 - Deadwood to Riverton.

Up reasonably early and it is time to start my journey westward back towards Portland.

I drove south firstly to get down to the highway and I travelled over the O’Neill Pass which meant a lot of driving uphill and the gauged on the gas tank went down pretty quickly. I stopped at a gas station and filled up before continuing on and entering back into Wyoming.

I drove down to the town of Lusk before turning right. Driving again was good but it was again a hot humid day so the sunscreen was lathered on again. Along the way I saw a sign for a tourist marker that said Natural Rock Bridge. So I decided to pull off the highway and go see it.

The rock formation is over a river that has over the years eroded the soft rock causing an archway that the river runs under. It is an interesting piece of nature and a lot of people where there with children and families playing in the cooling water.

From there I drove on and I stopped into the town of Casper to get the passengers side mirror replaced after it was smashed the other  day when I drove to close to a star post when pulling off the road.

The glass company in town fixed the mirror and while I was paying the lady asked where I was from. When I told her Sydney she said that her daughter had lived in North Rocks for 6 years. North Rocks is 10 minutes from my home.

I then drove on to Riverton where I was staying the night. The heat was just bearable but the wind was very strong and it was pushing the van slightly when coming from a certain angle.

I got to the Wind River Casino about 4pm and booked in. The room was very good and I laid down and had a nap, setting the alarm for 1 hours time.

After getting up again I jumped back in the van and dove 40 minutes south to the town of Lander where I visited another casino called the Shoshone Rose casino to get their $5 chip.

By the time I left there it was dark and I drove back to my accommodation and had dinner at their restaurant using a $5 voucher to reduce the cost of the meal.

After that I played blackjack for a while and then some slots and luckily breaking even on the tables and winning on the slots. It was then time to head to the room to get some sleep.
